Smackdown-S/T

So if you know me in real life you know that I love professional wrestling anything to do with wrestling I love so for this release all I seen was the cover and had to have it. The cover features Bubba Ray Dudley and the back has Chris Jericho on it giving Edge the Walls of Jericho.  So no matter what it sounds like i'm glad I own this record for the wrestling images.  So I rushed home to listen to this and I am not joking first thing I did was set my records on the counter and rushed over to put this record on.  Well what a let down this was I can't really explain this poorly played and put together record the best part of the whole record was the name of the songs all wrestling themed titles like " I Got Smashed Through the Table With the 450 Splash" and "The Cripplers cross face".  Also what makes this record semi good is all the wrestling samples that they used from the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Vince Mcmahon, and Chris Jericho between every song makes it even more amazing for me. I don't like to hate on bands since someone obviously spent there hard earned cash to put this out and they spent money on recording it. Maybe I just expected to much as a wrestling fan.

V/A-Die Human Race (Flexi)

Well look what I found. At first I just picked this up because it was a flexi but then I turned it over and realized it was a Profane Existence flexi that they gave away in an issue of the magazine.  But don't give all the credit to Profane it's a split with Skuld Releases from Germany. So with that said Side Skuld has the likes of Accion Mutante,Hiatus,Fleas & Lice, and Luzifers Mob and Side Profane has State of Fear,Civil Disobedience and Assrash.  So with a line up like that you can't really be disappointed especially if your from Minnesota with all 3 Profane bands being locals. So a lot of crust punk coming out of the speakers on this side of the record. Then with the Skuld bands 4 bands from around Europe playing pretty much the same style of crust punk. That's why they probably did this split. I know since I volunteer for Profane that they are very close to Skuld and carry all of there releases.  So this is the first flexi disc I found in there and I hope many more to come. Also this was made back when flexis were flexis where there nice and thin and had 2 sides now all you get is a thick plastic that is one sided.

Peter Mangalore-Decay of The Iron Man

Well this being the first 6 inch record I found for a dollar why not right if there is any weird shaped vinyl screenprinted record or cloth cover or anything that would cost a label or band more money to put out then just a regular 7 inch i'll buy it.  So here is the first. Never heard of this band before so mainly going on the fact that it's a 6 inch record.  So I put it on my turntable and play it. It's fast violent power violence that will knock you out for real after listening to it a couple times or more like 12 times it grew on me nothing really stands out to me in this but it is some well put together and very angry PV and I dig this record a lot now. Not to mention I did have an offer from someone to buy this from me and am still waiting to hear back from them...Paul.... Even though the Discogs website has this as a 5' record it's really not and it's put out on Deep Six Records so thats really cool to own this record which is 14 years old. With all them good words said first 6' record to be reviewed hopefully many more to come.

V/A-Fuck You Punx Vol. III

So here is an amazing comp 7 inch with 4 amazing bands.  Wait for it....... U.K. Subs, Ed Temple, D.R.I. and  The Eight Bucks Experiment. So at first I only knew about the U.K. Subs and D.R.I. that's why I picked this up but I was very shocked to listen too the other 2 bands and there tracks and liked them very much.  So side A starts out with the legendary U.K. Subs with a very catchy punk track called "Terroristos" singing about New York City and terrorists very catchy poppy punk never listen to these guys before but after hearing this I hope all there stuff is this good. Next track Is Ed Temple "Alive and Well" sounds like a snotty punk with awesome tempo and catchy lyrics and sing along parts I would check these guys out for sure.  Now time to flip over the record with the first track it's D.R.I. and how can you not like these guys seeing them live a couple years back was awesome do I fully knew what to expect from there track called "I'm the Liar" and they DO NOT disappoint on this track long intro in to a fast and furious track that will keep you raging from start to finish. Lastly there is The Eight Bucks Experiment with there track "Fuck You Punx" maybe thats where the name of the record came from??? Well there track starts off slow but goes into a nice thrashy trashy punk song that has good guitar riffs and not so bad vocals kinda reminds me of Rancid but without the lisp.  So 2 gems and 2 surprises for bands on this record. Not bad for a dollar.  Oh and it's on clear wax.

Youth Brigade/Screw 32

So I seen Youth Brigade back in the day at the Triple Rock Social Club very impressed by them.  Never listen to them before the show, but after I have came to love there records I've found so seeing this for a $1 I was pretty excited on there track "Spies For Life" nice illustration of a priest holding a bible and gun and a nice almost 4 minute long song of what they do best and that is playing catchy as hell punk rock song a total 2 thumbs up from me.  I would love to see these guys again if they ever toured through Minnesota again. So for the B side I must be honest I have never ever heard of this band Screw 32 but for there side is a nice sounding pop punk song very catchy in vein of Mighty Mighty Bosstones but with out the ska feeling also really reminds me of Guttermouth for some reason maybe if I was a younger punk again I would have total gotten into this band back in the day.  But now that I'm older i'll be glad to pull out this record again someday and listen to this side.  But I can't hate because it is a bad ass jam.

Toxic Narcotic-Had It Coming!

Well another Toxic Narcotic 7 inch in the dollar bin, no surprise here.  So this is my 2nd post about them, also I have at least more coming. So for this release at least it's only 1 song per side so a total of 2 tracks that i've never heard before, probably because I really never got into this band back in the day the only one of there records I ever owned was the "Shoot People. Not Dope" 7 inch. So for side A starts out with a very nice ska song called "Cockroach" if this song was all ska I would be super stoked but it goes into very fast punk riffs then goes back to ska.  So back and forth for pretty much 4 minutes.  So to conclude not a bad track if it was all ska that would be awesome.  So side B track is called "War Song 2K" nice little guitar intro for the song but then the vocals kick in which is alright. I don't like to be negative towards bands but please somebody please let me know of a good over the top Toxic Narcotic song that I would love besides "Shoot People, Not Dope". I beg you...  Also I can't complain found this record on a light purple swirl color vinyl.

Holy Shit! – What The Fuck?!

Holy Shit! This record is amazing where has this band been all my life I wish I would have known about this band along time ago.  I found out that these guys are from Milwaukee, WI which is like 6 hours away from me.  Also I just found out there playing March 1st in Minneapolis at the Hexagon Bar.  So you know where i'll be that night right in front of the stage taking pictures.  So I looked this up and found out this is a second press of this record 500 for the first 300 for the second blank center labels but I can't really complain since it was only 1 dollar and this record kicks ass.  I totally would suggest this band to anyone that is into the garage rock sound but more on the punk side of things. A total of 11 catchy as hell tracks. I'm looking forward to finding there other splits and Lp plus a 10 inch.

The Sheryl Cro(w) Mags-#1 Hit

With a name like this why wouldn't you pick this up. I actually got this as a gift that someone bought me out of the dollar bin and told me I had to blog about this so here it is.  So knowing nothing by the outside of this record all it said on the back was distributed by No Idea Records, Gainsville,FL.  So with that being said you'd think that this would be a folk punk, acoustic or pop punk release. Not all 3 are true the one that is true is a mix between folky pop punk.  This is a solid release and I can see why No Idea distributed this it fits into what he normally releases. The record does sound dates like this was released a while ago which is true this record is 12 years old now but if I got this back in 2000 I would have totally been into this. But now that I kinda grew up it's not the best but it's totally not garbage.  I am glad I got this and a chance to listen to it and now it is in my collection and it'll probably stay there till my kids decide to sell it when I die.

Code 13-They Made A Wasteland and Called It Peace

WOW for a dollar in the Twin Cities this is a pretty sweet deal.  If you didn't know Code 13 was a band from Minneapolis that formed after Destroy broke up and the singer runs Havoc Records known for there amazing records plus he sang in Damage Deposit as well.  This completes my Code 13 7 inch collection unless I can find it on color or limited cover which I can always seem to find at Extreme Noise. So I believe this is there second 7 inch that they put out.  With a 3 seven inches and 1 split 7 inch out.  This band would have been amazing to see live I see Felix Havoc sometimes at shows or at Extreme Noise and I never have went up and talked to him personally before, which is something I need to change. Also when I picked this up I also picked up there discography CD which has 50 tracks spanning there 6 year existence. So fingers crossed that they someday they reunite and do one more show just so I could tell my kids someday that I seen Code 13.

The Locust/Arab On Radar

$1 for real could not believe this find if you wouldn't pick this up for that price your not very smart.  What can I say about this that hasn't already been said before I wish I would have seen The Locust perform when they came through town but didn't go and now there not around anymore.  So this record for some reason comes as a 7 inch but on a really odd shape of wax I heard that all of them are suppose to resemble blood drop shape but come in brown, clear and red so poop, semen, blood color.  Which is pretty odd but the shape is a amazing with The Locust the grind out 5 tracks of pure grind with super ass long names that are funny at best but sometimes are very long, they must listen to Anal Cunt or inspired by them with there song titles.  Arab on Radar never listened to them before haven't even heard of them before this split came out there tracks are longer grind/noise tracks that span this whole 7 inch a total of 2 tracks but nothing to special to me.

Superhelicopter-Deutschland

To be honest with you all I picked this record up because of the screen printed B side of the Record.  It's not a fancy print but it's a print none the less.  If I see anything unusual in the dollar section i'll pick it up to check it out, I assume if the label put extra cost into screening the record or cover or anything for that matter it has to be worth it. So this record came out in 2008 as a freebee in a Lp that was put out but for some reason they just made a bunch and sold them, originally released in Germany and now in my collection.  So I must say that this is a really good high energy fast paced hardcore kinda pop mix all sang in German I believe 2 tracks in totally I kinda want to pick up there Lp from knowing how good they actually are. So as you can see mine is screened with Silver ink that isn't the rare one screened in Gold Ink is what they made less of.  So 2 thumbs up for these Germans. On a side note I just bought the Nightstick Justice demo 7 inch off of Ebay for like $5 and its a good demo but there 7 on Grave Mistake is much better.
